uEmcee: Ovaseeahz!
What's the business, How has life been treating
you?
Nytelife- Life’s been good man. We
are finally startin’ to get things jumpin’!
We got shows lined up finally. For those of yall
in Sac who visit this site, September 10th at the
Owl club in Roseville we are on the bill with Sammie
Award winner CrazyBallhead. The Ovaseeahz Mixed
Tape is comin out along with the Ovaseeahz- “RePresenting
Hip-Hop” album’s comin’ soon!
We #4 on the best hip-hop site in the game, Uemcee.com!
It’s lookin real fed right now!
Deepthought Kanoses- Life is fair. We’ve got
a lot of things goin’. I can’t believe
the success we’ve had on Uemcee.com. Basically,
it’s been a long time comin’ for us.
We’re finally getting the opportunity to showcase
ourselves.
uEmcee: Man you kats have
been showing uEmcee a lot of love, we really do appreciate
it. The name Ovaseehz, man I have to know what's the
story behind the name? Wait First of all please introduce
all the members that make up the group Ovaseeahz? About
how long have you kats been working together?
NY- The Ovaseeahz consist of 3 members, Nytelife,
Deepthought Kanoses, and E-Period- the silent but
deadly partner in the firm. He makes about 75% of
the production team, I pick up the other 25% and
trade verses with one of the Bay’s most talented,
Deepthought. Me and Thought have been down for about
8 years. We hopped on with E.P. in 2000. We’ve
been WAY underground until now. This is actually
our third album. The other two we unreleased. uEmcee: Ok now the name
Ovaseehz, what's the story behind the name?
NY- Kuntry Klub Kurt!!!!!
DTK- Yea, my brother Kuntry Klub Kurt came up with
the name. It’s has an acronym but nobody remembers
what it is! Our name actually means just what it
says, Ovaseeahz. We oversee hip-hop in attempts to
guide it in the right direction. It’s almost
like a big brother theme. We’re always there
no matter what. uEmcee: That banger "Put
That On" is hot, very hot.
I can imagine that beat dropping in and the club going
crazy. How often are you guys able to get together
and put in the work? We always here stories about other
emcees living in the studio, just wondering if that
the same for you all?
NY- Man, we in the studio like every week. Thought
is in like damn near everyday! We both got 9-5’s
so time ain’t always nice to us. We still make
it pop though. We have recorded our next album!!!
That one is gonna kill this one!!
DTK- Yea, “Put That On” slaps. That
was one of them songs you do and you know that it’s
a single off the top. As far as the studio, we try
to get in as often as time permits. Our goal is to
knock out about 3 songs a week. We wish we had 100%
of our time dedicated to our craft. It’s hard
when you have rent and kids and expenses. 9 to 5’s
keep us funded.
uEmcee: Kavindra.com ,
Kavindra Entertainment how long have you guys been
with that entertainment company? By the way very professional
looking
site!
NY- We founded it as a way to get our music heard.
We couldn’t get any label’s to holla
at us, so we decided to do the independent thing.
It’s workin’ out. Our staff fluctuates
like Oprah’s weight! First we had 6, then we
had 5 now it’s just us! We gotta wear mad Hats!
We all got like 4 jobs a piece in the label. We still
make it happen though. DTK- The idea originated in 2001 but didn’t
get official until 2002.
uEmcee:The Mixtape seen
has been a major element in the Hip Hop industry, theres
a lot of emcees out there are doing it big putting
out mixtapes. I've heard people from time to time say
that they would rather stay underground and put out
mixtapes then be in the mainstream and have there work
controlled? What's your outtake on that? Are you guys
putting out any mixtapes?
NY- I think you gotta do both. If you do real
music that everybody can get down to, than you’ve
already won. Versatility is the name of the game.
As an emcee, you gotta be creative enough to work
with the Kanye West’s of the game while still
having the ability to work with cats like Yukmouth.
Not sayin’ we got down with any of them before,
but if you listen to RePresenting Hip-Hop, you hear
the Bay influence, along with a East coast vibe,
a rock track and a conscious underground feel. We
try to dabble in everything. Like I said before,
we got a mixed tape droppin’ too. It’s
Krazy!
DK- Yea, it’s important to do both. We didn’t
learn that until late I our careers. We figured out
that people like to hear variety so we broaden our
horizons. We got the mixed tape comin’ and
we’re on Ydr3$at’s “Unfu#$wittable” compilation.
We have to have versatility due to the artist we
deal with and the ones we put out.uEmcee:Where is Ovaseeahz
taking it next? What moves are you guys taking?/span>
The Ovaseeahz are lookin’ to define ourselves.
We got the next album comin’ , our solo projects,
more mixed tapes, a little compilation in conjunction
with my company 3200 music, and hopefully a MPC-
Mighty Poet Crew album. DTK- We got the solo’s on tap. We a couple
of artist we are trying to put on right now. We’re
the test subjects for our label. Trial and error
will guide us through.
uEmcee: Well here we go, interview wrap up. Please
tell me, uEmcee and our
members/visitors where they can send their fan mail too? NY- Holla at us at www.Kavindra.com. Visit the
fourm and say what you want!! Any feedback is good
feedback! Keep checkin’ the site to cop our
album. uEmcee: Check it out,
I really appreciate you kats taking the time to answer
a few of our questions. Please keep dropping us those
hits, and be easy.
