uEmcee: First things
first "Tha Advocate" how did the
name come about? There is usually something very Interesting
about an emcees name.

Tha Advocate:
Well I get asked that all the time ....its because
I am an opinionated person ..I stand up for what I
believe in ..I am a true advocate. It reflects me
personally and in my music. Also advocate stands for
another days obstacles conquered at the extreme. Which
basically means I can do anything!
uEmcee: What brings you to
the rap game, do your recall who or what It was that
first Inspired your to pick up a microphone?
Tha Advocate:
I am In the rap game for a change! a positive one
...andIn the burgh (newburgh) I used to run wit this
cat named hakeem. He got me started more. I always
used to write but he kinda broke my cherry wIt this
shit....had me actually freestyling ..and doing me.
After that It went from a hobby to my life.
uEmcee: How long have you been
putting It down?
Tha Advocate:
I been spittin since like 95....and each year It got
a little more serious for me. Now Its my life 4 real.
I am Into music on the productiIon,engineering, spittiIn,everything.
uEmcee: According to your profIle
It looks like the underground has been good to you.
Featured In several hip-hop magazines and websites.
Where do you see yourself In the next year? We would
say next fIve years but a lot can happen with In a
years time.
Tha Advocate:
I hate to put a time limit on success. I dont know
where I'll be ..hopefully still alive....I can say
that I want to be In the game...getting more recognition....getting
my name and music out there...and hopefully gettIng
a great deal.
uEmcee: The track "Break Ya
Heart" Is that all you? I mean producing, editing
the whole nine?
Tha Advocate:
Well I produced the beat..I arranged the song ,wrote
my verse and wrote the hook. I had also featured anpther
artist on there who wrote his 16 bars. After that
I stayed In the studio with the engineer lIke I always
do and called the whole mix down.
uEmcee: How did you come up
with the track?
Tha Advocate:
Cause I always envisioned a song like that. I started
making the beat around the concept ... of slapping
the haters back. Thats what It Is breaking the hearts
of the haters...also ...I have to say that song ....
honestly Isnt even the best to come from me....there
Is gonna be so much more...soon they will be posted
on my site..and uEmcee.
uEmcee: What is the Independent/underground
rap scene like In New York
Tha Advocate:
Its tuff.....Its hard..everyone wants to be an mc...u
have to be hungry and feel u r one of the best. Thats
why alot of my raps are agressive and slick....to
try to outdo the others. There is alot of mc's trying
to get on...thats basically It In a nutshell.
uEmcee: This is a off the cuff
questions but what do you expect to get from the rap
game? Some kats are doing It for the ladies, some
for the fortune, and some for the love of the fans.
Which are you?
Tha Advocate:
I am doing It to be known. I want to make music that
people can feel for all occasions...basically I want
to be the advice and shoulder to cry on. I want to
be known and respected for my talent. The fans are
Important...In a world of hate the love would be nice...also
money....I cant keep working these jobs that wont
get me anywhere ya know....I need to live my dream.
uEmcee:
Do you have any gigs coming up? Let us know
what days we need to mark off on our calendars.
