uEmcee: What up Justes
how are you living?. Justes: I'm good maintaining,
ya know
uEmcee:I usually kick off
my interview with a question regarding emcees aliases,
sometimes they can be quite colorful. But instead
I would like to kick this one off with a quote from
your website. “My town is the oldest black
city in the United States and I feel like nobody
knows it my uncle was one of the first mayor’s
of this town I owe it to him I owe it to my people
to put it on the map. No one knows what I mean when
I say 1887 but they will know before it’s over.” Yo
thats for real! Deep, straight knowledge something
they don’t put in our text books. What kind
of reaction do you normally get when you break down
the 1887 to people?
Justes: Most people
find it interesting. When u really think about it,
the place that I'm talking about is in every black
ghetto. Just think of all your Martin Luther King
streets or drive and etc. there all dead smack in
the hood, but if you do the research you'll find
they were put there for a reason, but yet there's
nothing but negative things surrounding them it makes
you think. right? That's 1887 a ghetto on soil that's
deeply rooted in heritage and black rights. Eatonville,
Florida
uEmcee: Back to my traditional
style of questioning, Can you tell us a little bit
about yourself and basically how did you come up
with the name Justes? Is that your real name, I’m
not trying to offend, I just don’t know.
Justes: No, Justes is not my
birth name. I decided to use the name justes soley
on the fact that so many females in the game aren't
doing justice as female artist as far as pushing
the envelope for other female rappers. I think alot
of females become limited in the game by relying
on sex appeal as their major topic as if we don't
go through other things in life being females. I
love getting my grown woman on, getting sexy is easy
it's in our nature but we don't feel sexy 24 hours
a day 7 days a week. We go through so many more emotions
and that's what's lacking. But that's o.k because
I'm coming. Justes 4 all
uEmcee: How long have
you been in the game? and what do you expect to get
out of it?
Justes: I've been rapping for
about 8 years. I think ultimately I want to be known
for changing the game in some way especially from
the female stand point.
uEmcee: I think its safe to
say we all love hip hop, but are their any other
kinds of music that you enjoy. For instance I listen
to anything from 666 Mafia to Michael McDonald, depending
on what type of mood I’m in. Is it the same
for you? Or are you no doubt 100% hip-hop for you?
Justes: Oh, man I listen to
all types of music. I listen to gospel, country,
alternative. I'm really feeling mushroom 5 and coldplay.
I like jazz and blues. I love hip-hop for the lyrical
part of it, but when I want to hear true musicianship
and live instrumentation I listen to other music.
uEmcee: Who are some of the
artists that you have worked with in the past?
Justes: Right now I
work the most with a female vocalist/producer Renita
Kornegay out of faison,nc. We co-produce together
alot. We are actually looking to start a production
company(Bossladyproductzons) later on next year.
I have also worked with crazy K out of lillington
NC, he's a talented rapper sure to be loved by the
down south lovers his energy with me in the studio
is yet to be matched. I can't forget my man lil money
dangerous from Ft. lauderdale. Lyrically he's a beast
waiting to be discovered. He is featured on my upcoming
mixtape.--
uEmcee: Regarding the
other artists you have worked with what is one of
your most memorable moments?
Justes: I would have to say
my most memorable moment or should I say moments
would have to be with my man crazy K. You just have
to meet him the dude is off the chain.
uEmcee: I love asking people
this question, but like a coin there are two sides
to it. Every performance can’t be all good,
just like what goes up must come down. What is your
worst memorable moment, and don’t leave out
any details.
Justes: Worst memorable
moment for me would be at a local open mic, The song
I preformed was banging but it just was'nt the right
crowd for the song. The whole crowd ended up looking
like a church congregration nobody moved it was crazy.
I looked at it as a notch on the belt, and learned
from the experience. Choose the right songs for the
right places and atmospheres!!!
uEmcee: How’s the performing
going for you. Are you performing a lot these days
and if so what kind of venues can we find you at?
Justes:Actually I should
be performing much more within the next couple of
months. I've been really busy working on the production
end for other artist and also working on a album.
uEmcee: If you wasn’t
into the music game what would you be into, what
other passion do you have besides performing?
Justes:I think I would
be doing something in the computer field.
uEmcee: How can people
get in touch with you as far as booking info, show
dates, album releases or fan clubs? Give us email
address, links etc
