Another big decision that we included in our new release was the ability to add external links to your profile page. This is a lot different from how we use to handle external links. In the past we filtered out all and any external link that was added to a artists profile page. This was done to protect the growth of the site, we where new to the space and wanted to keep what little users we had at the time. Our train of thought is different now then what it used to be. We now have special locations setup in the users profile page that will allow you to add other social page links. We tried to select a few of the bigger social sites to go with.
We also add one other extra slot so that you can add another link of your choice. We realize that these other online social communities also play a big factor in many independent artist marketing strategies. So instead of muffling your marketing effort's we decided to take a different route and play nicer with the other online communities. Bottom line we are here to help you build an audience.
Step to set these links.
Log into your uEmcee account
1. While in your control Panel locate the "Account Setting" link.
2. Under the grayed out box where you username is located there's a link labeled "Click to add additional links" in some browsers this link will expand a set of text boxes where you should enter in your additional links.
3. Add your other social web site links, then click "Save Account Settings"

What's your preferred choice of Audio editing software?
For about 2 years now I have been using Audacity, a free and light weight audio editing software that's easy to use out the box. I'm to believe it’s pretty popular; so far I haven’t been in a conversation where the other person had no idea what I was talking about.
In the past I have been known to bounce between Audacity, Sony’s Acid and Propellerhead’s Reason but now tend to lean more towards Audacity, again it’s a free and light weight application. I have it installed on my laptop and it allows me to make quick edits to podcasts, voiceovers and etc.
Just out of curiosity I set up a voting script to see if I can get some kind of idea of what is the preferred weapon of choice when it comes to editing software.
If you choose "OTHER" from the menu please drop me a line and tell me what you do use, and why you prefer it.

Bringing it to you like a 96 mph fastball to the chin.
I'm talking about the uEmcee weekly Podcast mix show of course. It's episode #4 baby and we have another fresh five line up for this week. From California to Canada, it's going down.
Good news our podcast mix is back in Itunes. Yep go to iTunes and do a search for uEmcee and you should find our new listing. The dam old listing is also still there, along with some other poachers that we see where attempting to steal our shine.
We reached out to iTunes but have no idea how long it will take to get our old listing removed. I guess something like this can take times.
The uEmcee Podcast Show is a weekly Podcast where we included five emcees or DJ's from the uEmcee.com website. This selection is totally random. There is no payment or bartering involved in the selection process.
Thanks for the support, April was an incredible month.
May is here and I'm running the numbers and it looks like we broke goal regarding new listener sign ups.
This was the first time uEmcee open the site to anyone that was not an artist. Our expectations for new listeners where low for the month of April. This was a new feature and all marketing was done via social networks; no paid advertising was conducted for the month of April. Bottom line thanks for the support and please spread the word.
What's in store for May, well staying focus on making a solid site is our primary goal. But for the month of May we would also like to help artists maximize their online marketing strategies. So in the next several weeks we will be rolling our video tutorials with details steps that will help drive traffic to your site. So stay on board the Month of May is going to interesting.
I found an article that spoke about the digital music movement. I'm calling it a movement because I see the numbers increasing way more then the 40% they projected. Here are a couple of facts that I believe will push the increase. Majority of the newer cell phones will either be 3G or WIFI enabled or both. Free WIFI is becoming more available as we speak. People love convenience and having a cell phone that doubles as an mp3 player that also allows you to download and store music straight to that device is extremely convenient. Bottom line I think we will see more mobile devices that will allow us to purchase music without the need of docking stations, USB cables, fire wires or etc.
Hell, I'll bet the average house hold owns one computer but several cell phones....my opinion.

I just uploaded the uEmcee Podcast Show episode #2. We are on a roll now baby! Fresh new line up this week that I'm sure you'll enjoy. Some new members and some older members, thanks for the support. It's never a challenge finding talented emcees on uEmcee.com. If the database was a dart board I could blindly throw a hand full of darts and have next weeks fresh Five line up that would rip your ear drums out.
In this weeks show we have.
One other note about the underground/Indy movement. Last week like Monday or Tuesday I bought the "Indefinate etticate" new album entitled "Simple Creatures" via Itunes, Itunes is so f'n smooth sometimes. 26 Tracks for $9.99 straight lyrics not a bunch of that intro, outro yada, yada, yada crap. Now when was the last time you bought a album with 26 tracks that didn't included a bunch of bullsssss... You Feel me? SUPPORT THE INDY MOVEMENT! http://www.uemcee.com/mylocal/mylocal.php?id=3

New script I'm thinking about putting into circulation.
I need the communities' opinion on this one. I'm trying to put together a script that will allow us to share rap related news amongst each other.
Today at work I got an email alert regarding the Akon scandal, I guess it's a scandal I'm not really sure what to call it but it's sure interesting. Anyway right after reading the article I wanted to share it with others. The only option currently in place is email, but hell I don't want to blast an email every time something breaks out, so hence the making of this script. I'm not sure what to call it or where it should live. It's a sort of like the Simpy book marking script.
So in brief this is how it works. For FireFox users you're in luck, its easy to set up.
On the news pages (See the link at the bottom of the post) towards the top you'll see a small icon in the headline. Just drag this icon to your tool bar and that should be it. So now the next time you're surfing the web and run across an article/news that you think is interesting just click that icon, add a short description and click post so the rest of the community can stay informed.
Internet Explorer users it's a little different to setup. You have to right click your mouse on the icon and click "add to favorites" from the pop up menu.
Safari and Opera users I have no idea.
I need the communities' opinion on this one. Please let me know; Should we Keep It or Dump It. send me a email with your opinion.
Also you have to be logged in to post.
FireFox Users: Drag this button to the 'Bookmarks Toolbar'.
We're a day late but we made it!
We're calling this episode the E1 episode because it's been so dam long since we actually produced some new material. We followed the same process as we have done in our previous shows, keeping it simple and sweet. Less talk more music basically.
Well in this week podcast show we included five very fresh and very talented emcees. I know you'll like what you hear, I sure did.

Lately the traffic to the uEmcee Podcast show has been increasing, and that's off the chain! But I'm sorry to announce that we have not published a new show this month, I apologize for the inconvenience. We made some bad choices in the past that's causing us pain in the present. And honestly I think it will be a minute until we are added back into Itunes directory under our new address. But to fill the void, and slow down some of the emails, I have uploaded a pervious show.
Don't expect me to sound like Funk master Flex, I'm so far from it. I have no radio voice! The show is about 14 minutes long and includes some tight ass emcees.
I'm going to work on the new show this weekend and upload it Sunday night. Please subscribe to the Itunes Feed and our RSS feed. Doing so will allow us to ping you when we upload a new episode or entry.
Just in case you have no idea what I'm talking about, here's a short synopsis. Every Wednesday (more the likely this will change to Sunday) we introduce five random emcees from our members database. This is not a paid or barter thing, we pick artists that are serious about their business. So if you're not serious about your craft then there's a good chance will over look you.

Independent Rap Artist + Online Marketing, what's missing?
Let's talk briefly about the two. I think most rappers understand the power of online social networking and I love it, I think that's fantastic. But the key element that most are forgetting or missing is the importance of developing an online presence independently of all the social networking sites, this kind of ties into my previous post about developing a strong internet marketing team. One of the major points to online marketing is to develop a presence that's capable of keeping a user's attention. You simple can not do that with social networking sites.
For example you're doing a show, and you're ripping the hell out of it. At the end of the show you thank everyone for coming out and tell the crowd if they want to get at you that they should hit you up at your MySpace page. WRONG! I see this on TV all the time.
I can bet you that about 90% of the potential buyers/fans that take the time out of their busy day to go to your MySpace page won't stick around very long, less then 5 seconds at most. Why? I'll tell you why, because there are too many distractions on social networking sites. The BUYER/FAN, (recognize the upper caps because losing money or a fan is a serious matter). That BUYER/FAN instead of focusing on the reason that brought them to your MySpace page (you) they are busy looking at the half naked women that are in your comments or pissed off and leave because the page wont load because some clown added a image to your comment section that is slowing the page down from loading. You worked hard to get these people to your page but lost them because of some B.S.
Bottom line, let you're MySpace page be your MySpace page but develop a separate independent presence that focuses solely on you and your music.
Everybody can't be the rapper.
My job is to help you shine.
Underground Rap, Independent Hip Hop, it doesn't matter how you slice it. It's a good time to be down with the movement. I had to brush the pollen from my eyes the other day and take a good look at my surroundings. Things have changed! Artists are taking control and becoming savvy businessmen. The times when how many records sold is about to become a matrix of the past, and a time when how many page views or downloads is going be our future.
It's simply beautiful when a emcee with a shoe string budget is able to take a song straight from the lab to the internet and become a over night phenomenon.
Believe it, that's where we are at!
So listen to what I'm saying. Devote some of that money and that time into developing a strong internet marketing team.
Believe me it will pay off.
For testing and upcoming features check me out at.
Thanks everyone for being so cool about the very slow and painful transition. I apologize I thought it was going to be one of those quick weekend things, I was wrong, really wrong. It took us a solid two weeks to get things to the point where we were comfortable in letting user get back on board.
Well we have everything almost complete minus a few details. Please feel free to use the new feature we put in place. Most of the changes where implemented within the users control panel. We took a few items off and added a few new items.
One of the few new options that we are happy to talk about is the option to join uEmcee as a listener. Previously uEmcee.com was strictly for emcee's and DJ's. Face it, if making music was that easy then everyone would be doing it. On uEmcee a listener is able to do almost everything a artist can do, almost!
Our new motto is to keep things simple. Well enjoy! I will be putting together a comprehensive list of the site changes along with some video tutorials within the near future.
